Our Reupholstery Process

Our team at Decorators Workshop will view your lounge suite to assess how many pieces will need work. We will calculate the required amount of fabric and work with your requirements should your furniture need reforming, foam replacement in seats or back cushions or refilling. All upholstery work is carried out at our workshop in Stamford Hill Road, Berea.

We will assist you in choosing the best reupholstery fabric within your budget.

The work flow:

  • Stripping of the lounge suit down to the frame (removing old fabric).
  • Evaluating of frame structure for termites and broken wood.
  • Replacing or tightening of webbing (at additional cost).
  • Cutting and sewing of new fabric according to the design of the lounge suite.
  • Reupholstering with new fabric.
  • Finishing touches are added as well as polishing of wood.
  • Inspection of final work.
  • Customer viewing and delivery.
  • Scotch guarding (additional cost).

Decorators Workshop was suggested to us for upholstery work by the company who structurally repaired our antique couch.     How long is the turnaround time?

    This depends on the extent of work needed on your lounge suit, however the average turn around time is 10-12 working days.

    Will you pick up and deliver the furniture?

    This can be arranged. Free delivery within 5km of our store.

    Do you deliver nationally?

    We deliver throughout South Africa. Delivery fees apply.

    What wood do we use for the frames?

    We use Saligna wood.

    What types of foam do we use?

    We use the foam of your choice and advise you on the best foam for the job needed. Foam options include high density, medium density, lifetime foam and unicurl.

    How much does it cost for repairs & replacement of parts?

    Should any springs or foam need replacing or repairing, you will be advised on the cost prior to the work been carried out.

    Do we stock fabrics?

    We stock several fabric sample books. We have good relationships with fabric houses around Durban and stock a wide range of U & G Fabrics, Bartlett and Dunster, Hertex and Stuart Graham.

    Is there an after-sale service?

    Yes. We offer a 1-year guarantee on workmanship.
